Project Team – contacts

Project Director: Wendy Luker is Service Manager for Academic Support and E-Serviceswithin LLI at Leeds Metropolitan University. In her career in academic libraries she has led a number of large scale projects. She has project managed three previous JISC funded projects: An Institutional Repository for Leeds Metropolitan University, PERSoNA and Bibliosight.

Project Manager: Arthur Sargeant is Stream Leader, Technologies for Learning within LLI, and team leader for the majority of the project team. He has previously been involved in the JISC funded Bibliosight project, and is currently project manager for the JISC funded Flexible Service Delivery project at Leeds Met, SOAP Opera. He has also successfully managed a JISC funded HEAT 3 Disability project.

Web Developer: Mike Taylor is Senior Web Developer within LLI. He has experience in developing web applications using a range of technologies including PHP, ASP and ASP.NET on the server-side and JavaScript (including AJAX, JSON and the popular JQuery Library) on the client-side. He has in-depth knowledge of mark-up languages such as HTML, XHTML and XML (with some experience using XSLT) and of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). He has recently completed the technical development work on the JISC funded Bibliosight project.

Technical Developer: Mike Ford is the Electronic Information Developer within LLI. He has in-depth experience of developing Web applications using a range of technologies including PHP, Perl, JavaScript (including AJAX and JSON), (X)HTML, XML, CSS, and Oracle SQL database. He is familiar with technical aspects of the SirsiDynix Library Management System, having received SirsiDynix API and system admin training, and has written reporting scripts in Perl to SirsiDynix’s standard patterns.

Technical Consultant: Adam Watson is the University’s Portal Content Manager. He has experience in the project management and development of a number of business critical web applications  including several portlets for the University Portal, the development of the current iteration of the Leeds Met Library Facebook application and has worked freelance as a project manager for the NHS and Department of Health on the implementation of a new family of websites and new content management system. He is a Professional Member of the Charted Institute of IT (MBCS) and holds the PRINCE2 Practitioner project management qualification and the ITIL Foundation Certificate. He is currently involved as Project Officer on the JISC funded SOAPOpera project as part of Flexible Service Delivery Programme and as part of this  has attended a five day SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) Architect course and passed the SOA Foundation exam.

Technical Developer and Project Officer: Debbie Morris is Library Systems Developer within LLI. Holding technology-based roles throughout her library career, she currently manages the system administration and development of the Sirsi Dynix Library Management System. Debbie has experience in extracting data from the LMS using Symphony API and developing links to library data via Web 2.0 technologies.

Senior Technical Consultant: Ian Maitland is the Information Systems and Services Manager in the Information, Media and Technology Services at Leeds Metropolitan University. Ian will bring expertise in the fields of user authentication and database access.
